Mint Lemonade

mint lemonade

Ramadan is the best time to make this Mint Lemonade. Being Arab, Mint is a staple at in almost every household. Almost every house will have either mint growing outside in a little garden or have a little pot out on the porch. We love to throw it in salads, stuffings, dry it for seasoning, but we mostly use it for tea. During the Spring and Summer when our gardens are full of the fresh stuff we use it in our tea. When it’s not available during the winter we use dried sage leaves instead. Tea is just part of our culture. As for the mint, what better way to bring it back in the spring than by making this mint lemonade?Back home they make this mint lemonade as a normal lemonade or add lots of ice and make a slush out of it. It comes together in like ten minutes, and all you really have to do is blend it! It’s one of the best ways to cool off during those hot summer days and a great way to put your lemonade over the top!

A refreshing summer lemonade, with a twist. The mint takes this lemonade over the top. You’ll definitely find yourself going for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 Cup Simple Syrup OR 1/2 Cup Sugar mixed into 1/2 Cup Warm Water

2/3 Cups Lemon Juice

1/2 Cup Cold Water

1/2 Cup Fresh Mint Leaves

3 Cups Ice

Instructions

Mix the simple syrup (or sugar dissolved in water), lemon juice, cold water, mint leaves, and ice.

Blend until smooth. Garnish and enjoy!

Notes

Instead of putting sugar and water, I make simple syrup and keep it on hand. This ensures that your lemonade is smooth and perfectly sweet because the sugar is already dissolved. Just bring to a boil equal amounts of sugar and water. Store in a jar and use in place of sugar!
