Hey everyone! My name is Nur (pronounced Noor) and I’m a 29 year old mom who lives in Richardson Texas. I’m a first-generation Palestinian American born and raised in Denver Colorado. I went to school to pursue a medical degree and then decided to become a teacher! That all went out the window when I got married and we had our first daughter. And I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Now, I’m a mom, a wife, and a cook. I take pride in staying home and taking care of my kiddos and husband as I run my Instagram and site to help YOU learn to cook the food I grew up eating.
I come from a family who LOVES to cook. My mom is an amazing cook and would always make the best food and desserts. Growing up, I used to help out in the kitchen a lot. I learned all the basics but had no need to cook because my mom did all of it. That all changed when I got married.
At my parents, I used to bake a lot. I got pretty good at it, and everyone loved the variety of desserts we had on the daily. Until now, my husband tells me he married me because I made him the best Cinnamon Rolls he ever had. Once we were married, I had to cook actual food. I knew the basics but I’m a baker at heart, so I needed exact quantities to make the dishes I grew up eating.
Every time I would call my mom, she could walk me through a recipe but only with general measurements. It took a lot of experimenting and remaking things to perfect them the way I grew up eating them.
In 2016 I had my first daughter and started my Instagram. I would dabble with it here and there but didn’t really take it too seriously. Finally, in 2018 I decided I was going to make something of it. I was newly pregnant with our second daughter at the time. I promised myself that that year would be the one that I would grow my page. God had different plans for me.
My husband fell at work and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. We spent months in hospitals and rehab completely unaware if he would ever recover. I completely abandoned my page and just tried to get our life back together. Alhamdulilah, we are beyond blessed that he made a recovery he shouldn’t have. It took a huge toll on everything in our lives, but I have full faith that God chose us to be tested in that way because he knew we would benefit from it. Not a moment goes by that I’m not thankful for every single thing we went through. It changed us, but it helped us grow in ways I don’t think we would have otherwise.
I started to get back into my Instagram and slowly built it to the platform it is today. It makes me so happy to see that all the work I have put into my page has been paying off. I get some of the best feedback every day. I take so much pride knowing that I can ease cooking and baking for all those who follow me. I hope to continue to grow and learn with my followers because every day I am learning something new as well! I hope you enjoy my page and find what you’re looking for. If you don’t, feel free to reach out. I’m just a message away!
