I believe that in order to be able to read my blog, and really get a part of my voice as you read it, you need to know a little more about me and where I come from. Introductions are really weird for me. I just never know what to say! I hope this helps you “meet” me and hopefully soon really get to know me and who I am! So, here we go!
My name is Nur (pronounced Noor) and I’m 25 years old. I am a Mom, a Wife, and a Cook. I live in Dallas, Texas with my husband and our two daughters, Meera who is 3 going on 13, and Minna who’s 6 months. I am originally Palestinian, but a first generation here in the states. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and didn’t move to Texas until I got married. So far, I really like it here in Dallas. I mean the food in itself is a great bonus! I hate being so far from my family, but thankfully I’m lucky enough to visit often and even luckier that the plane rides are pretty short since my daughter just keeps becoming more active! My husband owns an HVAC business with his family and I am a stay at home mom. Moving here was really difficult for me because everything I know is in Denver. I am the oldest of 6 kids and the first to get married. I’m not someone that makes friends too easily because I really stay in my bubble. Even though once I get talking I don’t always know how to stop. Moving here kind of took everything that I knew away. However, I am slowly learning to meet people and do new things.
Regardless, I always have my baking and could honestly sit in the house for a week and be fine with it. I love to cook, clean, and bake. My daughters also keeps me really busy during the day. Other than the fact that I miss my family and friends, Dallas has treated me well. Oh, and the mountains. I also really miss the mountains. They made it really hard to get lost because I always knew where West was so I could figure out the rest. I have an awful sense of direction. You have no idea how many times I have driven the complete opposite direction of my house and didn’t realize it till I was about 20 minutes out. You’d think a Pre-Med graduate and elementary school teacher would have a sense of direction. Nope. None. I went to UCD as a Pre-Med student. I always wanted to be a pediatrician. I also wanted to go to culinary school. My mom wouldn’t let me go out of state, so culinary school wasn’t really an option. Plus, I really wanted to go to medical school. I finished my Pre-Med with elementary education as my actual degree. A year before I was supposed to graduate, I did an internship at a local elementary school. I absolutely fell in love with all of it. Immediately, I knew that what I wanted was to be a teacher. Then, I got married. And had a kid. And now I stay home and cook. Somehow it all kind of just worked itself out.
I used to blog a loooooonnnnnng time ago (more about that in My Story). As for now, I really want to pick it up again but this time for real. I need a way to interact with people and share my love for cooking and baking. I am also teaching myself to take pictures so hopefully this all goes well. I hope you now know a little about me and can start to really interact with me through my writing. It makes blogging that much more fun! If you want to read a little more about why I started blogging go ahead and read My Story. Otherwise, just go ahead and enjoy the rest of my blog. I really hope that this blog becomes something. Not just for me, but for everyone that either asks me for recipes or just wants to learn to cook or bake in general. Feel free to contact me anytime through comments or shoot me an email. I can’t wait to see where this all goes!
